Award-winning producer Farnese Vini focuses on their wine production majorly from low-yielding old bush vines along with just 20 % from trained vines that are at least 20 years old. The concentration of flavor and quality over yield are prioritized. The label features lizards from the area that have made the stone walls of the vineyard their home. They represent the producer’s philosophy to stay true to natural means of production.
Puglia has quickly managed to rise in the ranks of being a reputed wine destination in Italy, while Primitivo has created quite a stir with its link to Zinfandel and the Croatian “Tribidrag” also known as, the tongue twister “Crljenak Kaštelanski”. This wine is affordable, easy to drink, food-friendly, and a great pick for parties.
After the harvest, the grapes are carefully destemmed and crushed. They must ferment on the skins for about 10 days. Malolactic fermentation is then carried out in stainless steel tanks. Part of the base wine is aged for some time in used barrels before being blended and bottled.
