“KOONUNGA HILL REDS ARE ALL ABOUT FRESHNESS, GENEROSITY OF FLAVOUR, RICHNESS, AND VIVACITY OF FRUIT. THESE ARE AFFORDABLE AND GREAT EVERYDAY DRINKING STYLES THAT REFLECT PENFOLDS WINEMAKING.” – PETER GAGO, PENFOLDS CHIEF WINEMAKER

The 2006 Koonunga Hill Seventy-Six Shiraz Cabernet, with its iconic retro packaging, was released as an homage wine to the famous 1976 Koonunga Hill “Claret”, a wine that captured the imagination of avid Penfold’s wine enthusiasts and collectors. The refined style of the Seventy-Six, aged in a proportion of new oak hogsheads, brings another dimension and complexity to the Koonunga Hill story.

Since its inception, Penfolds Koonunga Hill has always aimed to deliver quality, value, and consistency. The original 1976 Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet is a legendary wine that is still drinking well today. A perennial favorite at Penfolds Re-corking Clinics and at auction, collectors highly value its quality and longevity. Koonunga Hill Seventy-Six is a multi-regional South Australian blend of Shiraz and Cabernet, a wine style that has played a pivotal role in Australia’s rich winemaking history.
