Vigneti Zabu Nero D’Avola

TASTING NOTE
It has an intense ruby-red color with purple hues. On the nose, it is fruity with aromas of red berries, cherries, and plums, along with hints of vanilla, tobacco, and black pepper. On the palate, it is dry, full-bodied, and smooth with flavors of dark berries, chocolate, and a touch of smokiness. The tannins are firm yet silky, providing a balanced structure and a long, persistent finish.

Nero d’Avola is the flagship red grape variety of the Mediterranean island of Sicily and makes wines with a deep color, good body, and ripe, sweet fruit. This delicious example from Vigneti Zabu is an unoaked version made from young vines and was fermented and aged in stainless steel. It’s a nicely well-balanced wine with lots of fresh black fruits, violets, spice, and soft, supple tannins, and has a nice weight to it which quite impressed us when we tasted it. A comfortingly warm feeling wine whose bright berry flavors and wildflower hints last long in the mouth.
